The Alkylation Unit Technology & Operations training course develops practical understanding of alkylation systems, key operating factors and unit performance. Alkylation combines light olefins with isobutane to produce alkylate, a high-octane component used in gasoline blending. Its low sulphur and aromatic content, together with excellent combustion characteristics, supports cleaner gasoline production and compliance with stringent fuel-quality and environmental requirements. The course addresses alkylation chemistry, process technologies, feed preparation, reactor systems, acid management, fractionation and process safety.
Unit performance depends on feedstock quality, reaction temperature, the isobutane-to-olefin ratio, acid strength, hydrocarbon–acid contact and effective separation. Water, sulphur compounds, diolefins and oxygenates can raise acid consumption, encourage corrosion and lower alkylate quality. Participants learn to assess operating conditions, diagnose unit problems and improve the quality of the alkylate produced. They also develop the capability to optimise acid consumption, energy efficiency and equipment reliability.
